December 5, 2006, the Jones County Board of Commissioners voted to change the name of Tower Road to Curtis James Road, effective April 2, 2007. Sheep to shawl day at Jarrell Plantation
Jarrell Plantation will be demonstrating the process of sheering sheep, Saturday, April 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will also be demonstrations of the wool being spun into thread, dyeing the wool with natural dyes, and weaving on a loom. Admission to Sheep to Shawl Day is $4.00 for adults, $3.50 for seniors, $2.50 for children ages 6 - 17, and children 5 and under are free. Morton Johnson scholarship
Jones County students who are interested in applying for the Morton Johnson Scholarship may obtain an application in Jones County High Schools counselors office. The deadline for sending in an application is April 15.
Womanless beauty pageant
The 2007 Womanless Beauty Pageant will be held Sunday, April 22, 6:00 p.m., at Gray United Methodist Churchs Family Life Center. Admission is $5 for adults, with children 13 and younger free. There will be celebrity judges, concessions, and a free nursery. All proceeds will benefit Relay for Life. Contestants must register by April 15. Pilot Club scholarship
Applications for the 2007 scholarship awarded by the Pilot Club of Jones County may be picked up in the counselors office at Jones County High School or may be obtained by calling Beverly Wells at 986-6040. Applications for the scholarship will be taken from any high school senior who is a resident of Jones County. They must be returned no later than Monday, April 16.
Jarrell Plantation honeybees and beekeeping
