New Damascus Baptist celebrates Holy Week

New Damascus Baptist Church, 676 Damascus Church Road, Gray, is celebrating Holy Week, April 4-6, 7:00 nightly. The guest speakers are the Rev. Wayne Griffin of St. James A.M.E. Church on Wednesday, April 4; the Rev. Jimmy Williams of Ellis Chapel Baptist Church on Thursday, April 5; and the Rev. Ronald Slaughter of Greater Jordan Chapel A.M.E. Church on Friday, April 6.

First Baptist presenting Easter musical

The Music Ministry of First Baptist Church of Gray will be presenting the Easter musical, “Eyes of Faith,” Good Friday, April 6, 7:00 p.m. The musical will feature the Celebration Choir and Orchestra, various soloists, trios, and other special music (over 50 musicians). They will also feature the dramatic readings of Peter, Mary Magdalene, Simeon, Judas and a narrator. The public is invited to this free musical. Sunshine United Methodist bake sale

Sunshine United Methodist Church will have a bake sale with homemade cakes, pies and candy. There will also be face painting and hair spraying for the younger ones at the Farmer’s Market in Carol’s Park, Saturday, April 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This is a fund-raiser for Relay for Life and Multiple Sclerosis.

Plentitude Baptist auction

Plentitude Baptist Church will host an auction Saturday, April 14, 10 a.m., at the church on Plentitude Church Road off Highway 18 West. There will be furniture, homemade quilts, homemade cakes, collectibles such as Beanie babies, NASCAR items, baseball cards, and much more.

• Special centennial events, April 14, 15 and 19.

• Superhero Summer Day Camp, June 18-21, Monday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. daily; ages kindergarten through second grade; “Faith Village” to include lunch, recreation, Bible lesson, games, pool party, trip to Kangaroo Bob’s, movies, special hero guests, make-your-own superhero suit craft, and more; cost per child (everything included) is $50; register by April 30 by calling William at 932-5470.

• “Game Day Central” Vacation Bible School; classes for ages birth through adult; June 3 - 7; 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.; free supper 6:00 p.m.; huge family festival night, June 7, 6:00 p.m.

• Joint Superhero Summer Camp with Haddock and Elam Baptist churches; July 16 - 19; Brewton-Parker College, Mt. Vernon; ages third through fifth grade; all programs, dorm room, buffet meals, recreation, transportation, medals, keepsake materials, and much more included in cost of $130.00 per child. Central Baptist Association has moved

Central Baptist Association has moved to 102 East Clinton Street in Gray. Their new phone number is 986-2342. Office hours are Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. to noon.

Greater Faith is reaching out

• Greater Faith Outreach Ministries of 108 Peach Tree Street in Haddock distributes free nonperishable canned goods every Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This food bank ministry is free for those that are in need.

• Greater Faith has started a drug addiction and alcohol treatment program. This Christ-centered treatment program centers on God’s healing power and God’s ability to show His will and direction after a life shattered by alcoholism or drug addiction. Meetings are held every Thursday from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the outreach fellowship hall.
