| Industrial park remains on track | | A view of the siding to the railroad track on the north side of the property recently purchased by Jones County from the Plum Creek Timber Company for the purpose of creating an industrial park. | The Jones County Development Authority is going forward with development of an industrial park for the county with state interest in the property confirmation of its importance to the community and beyond. The intention to purchase 962 acres off Highway 57 for the purpose of creating an industrial park was announced December 1, and the land purchase was approved by Jones County commissioners at their December 5 meeting. | Local man arrested for suspected thefts | | Sheriff Butch Reece stands among the hundreds of suspected stolen items found at the residence of a Jones County man Monday morning. | Charges are pending against a Jones County man in a joint investigation by the Jones and Putnam County Sheriffs Departments concerning several thousands of dollars of stolen goods. Sheriff Butch Reece said items seized from the residence of Joey Jason Arnett April 2 are believed to have been stolen from Jones, Putnam, Bibb and Baldwin counties. Reece said one of the items was stolen from the Macon Fire Department, and two boat motors have been identified as being taken from Baldwin County.
