INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR VISIT – An investigator from Commissioner John Oxendine’s Office is scheduled to be in Warner Robins from 9:30-11 a.m., June 27 at the Public Library. Call this location at 478-923-0128 to confirm the investigator’s schedule. In addition to receiving assistance with insurance problems or questions, Oxendine’s Office offers complimentary homeowner, automobile and life insurance policy reviews. If you cannot meet with the investigator during these hours there are other ways that you can receive assistance. Investigators are available to assist you by phone from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Their toll free number is 1-800-656-2298. You can also contact them by e-mail via their web address at www.gainsurance.org. GLUTEN-FREE PICNIC – The Middle Georgia Gluten Intolerance Group, a branch of the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America, is hosting a gluten- free picnic in Perkins Park, 105 Mulberry Street (off Watson, behind the Recreation Department) June 21 at noon. Hot dogs will be provided but attendees are asked to bring a covered dish with list of ingredients (as they have people with multiple food allergies). The Middle Georgia GIG supports those with celiac disease, dermatitis herpetiformis or gluten intolerance. RSVP by calling 478-397-5061 or 478-952-6590 by June 18.

HODAC SUMMER BASH – Hodac, Inc. will present its Third Annual Summer Bash June 14 at Hodac’s Teen Center, 116 Wallace Drive in Warner Robins. It is slated to run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The mission of Hodac’s Teen Center, according to a release, is to “empower teens and pre-teens, ages 10-17, and their families through program and services that assist them in developing and reaching their greatest potential, to expose youth to things and places they may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience, and to teach community and personal responsibility.” They invite everyone to come out and join Hodac’s Teen Center for free food, games, face painting, door prizes, and much more.

FLAG DAY OPEN HOUSE AT MUSEUM – All veterans and the public are invited to the Museum of Aviation June 14 for a Salute to Veterans Flag Day Open House. The opening ceremonies will now be held indoors in Hangar One starting at 11 a.m. For more information call the Museum of Aviation at 926 -6870.

STARRY NIGHT DRIVE IN – The Starry Night Drive-in at 500 Riley Ave., in Fort Valley will hold its grand opening June 27 and 28. According to a release, there will be free admission during the grand opening. NON PARTISAN, INDEPENDENT QUALIFYING – Qualifying for non partisan and independent candidates will begin at 9 a.m. June 23 and end at noon June 27. Qualifying will held at the Houston County Board of Elections, Houston County Government Bldg., 801 Main Street, Room 237 in Perry. COCHRAN FIELD ARTIFACTS, ETC SOUGHT – Archivist Mike Rowland is seeking officers, enlisted, WACs, cadets, Britons, civilians and/or any family members and friends who were stationed at Cochran Field, or lived in Macon during WWII. He is looking for anyone willing to contribute artifacts, photos, articles and stories pertaining to their experience with the men and women working there, to the Robins AFB museum. ‘SALUTE TO VETERANS’ MONTH – The entire month of June will be “Salute To Veterans” month at the Museum of Aviation. Several special events and offerings are planned for the month-long celebration: Veterans’ Tour of Robins Air Force Base – June 18, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Free Veterans’ Prize Drawing - June 30; Veterans’ Discounts in the Museum Gift Shop, Café and “Transporter” Ride; Free Movies in the Museum Theater – Weekends at 1 p.m. The Museum of Aviation is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information visit www.museumofaviation.org or call 478-926-6870.

PHOENIX CENTER BOARD MEETING – The Phoenix Center Community Service Board will meet at 4 p.m. June 16 at the Phoenix Center, 940 Georgia Hwy. 96 in Warner Robins. The Phoenix Center CSB is the public mental health, developmental disabilities and addictive diseases board responsible for delivery of mental health services in Houston, Peach and Crawford counties. MISS WR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS – Applications are now being accepted for the 2009 Miss Warner Robins Scholarship Pageant and Outstanding Teen Pageant to be held Aug. 2 at the Homer J. Walker Civic Center in Warner Robins. The following counties are included in the franchise area for the Miss contestants – Houston, Peach, Macon, Dooly, Pulaski, Bleckley, Twiggs, Bibb, Crawford, Taylor, Schley, Monroe, Crisp, Wilcox, Dodge, Wilkerson, Baldwin, Jones, Putnam, Hancock, Jasper, Butts and Sumpter. The Miss Warner Robins Outstanding Teen Pageant is open to any eligible teen in the state of Georgia. THOMSON SCHOOL COUNCIL ELECTION – Thomson Middle School will hold a school council election June 17 at 6 p.m. in the media center. HAPPY HOUR SERVICE CENTER YARD SALE – Recycled treasures will be available at Happy Hour Service Center’s monthly indoor yard sale. It will be held June 21 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be a large selection of items for sale. Volunteers are needed June 20 from noon-6 p.m. as well as 8 a.m.-1 p.m. the morning of the sale. PERRY AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY – The Perry Area Historical Society meets at 6 p.m., the first Mondays of the months September through May at the New Perry Hotel on Main St. Anyone interested in attending the meetings is welcome and membership is opened to those who share an interest in preserving Perry’s historical sites, artifacts and the personal histories of its people.

REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY MEETINGS – The Redevelopment Agency meetings are scheduled for the first Monday of every month in the upstairs Conference Room in City Hall at 4 p.m.
