Daniel Brown announced Thursday that he will be a candidate for the unexpired Perry City Council post of Brian Bowen, who resigned in April. Brown is a local real estate broker and current Chairman of the Board of the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce. He has attended numerous council meetings in a business capacity or in his chamber leadership role, and recently has presented the chambers position in opposition to impact fees.
I feel like my business knowledge and leadership qualities are what the City of Perry needs, Brown said in making the announcement. He also noted that as a father of two young children, he wants to increase the job opportunities in Perry so there will be good jobs for my kids when they come back to live here.
Brown has lived in Perry since 1990. He has served in the Navy Seabee Ready Reserves for 13 years, and attended Columbus University.
He has been Region 6 Governor of the Graduate Realtor Institute, and is also a member of the Perry Exchange Club.
The election will be on July 15 at Rozar Park and is non-partisan. Two other candidates, Dudley Christie and Charles Lewis have also announced their plans to seek the position.
