It was a wonderful weekend of walking down memory lane for the Perry High School Class of ’64 as we celebrated our 40th reunion! Sixty-six classmates from as far as Kansas, Texas, Michigan and as near as Atlanta, Macon and Perry came and enjoyed good food and treasured fellowship Friday & Saturday, August 20 and 21. Parents and teachers joined us on Saturday morning for hugs and laughter and to listen to Bobbe Nelson as she presented a pictorial history of Perry and Houston County. Time and time again the phrases “It’s so good to be here” and “this is not ‘just our Class’ but we consider it ‘our Family!’” were echoed.
A video was made with each one sending a message of love and good wishes to Bobby Humphries, who couldn’t attend as he was stricken with Lou Gehrig’s disease a few years ago and is not expected to outlast his brave fight much longer. The Class of 1964 remembers with much fondness and appreciation our wonderful parents, teachers and staff who made our high school years so memorable and helped shape our lives.
Classmates who attended events held at the Donnie Free family camp house were Allen Bryant, Barbara Benford Batchelor, Bill Malone, Candy Click Grant, Currey Gayle, Garold Spena, Herman Thames, Jerry Mealer, Jimmy Suber, Larry Bailey, Mike Ratliff, Pat Ragan Johnson, Patsy Murphy Hatten, Rosemary Giles Bell, Tom Beall, Brack Maggard, Bobby Ragan, Boyd Rider, Bert Bozeman, Alton Ellis, Fred Dismuke, Annette Wood Tucker, Beverly Wicks Hardy, Bobby Lewis, Charles Andrew, Gale Parker Carroll, Gerry Harkins, Hugh Hill, Jimmy Dorsett, John Houser, Mike Lacefield, Nan Johnson, Nick Mizell, Ronnie Kinnas, Sandra Dixon Fleisch, Helen Davis Beall, Donna Horton Maggard, Micki Helm, Bob Kelly, Tim Dupree and Andrea Snyder Lasseter.
