WARNER ROBINS – On a day representatives of Rebuilding Together With Christmas in April said they wanted to send thanks to the community for support of the program which allows volunteers to repair and otherwise fix-up homes for those in need, two homeowners treated part of the team that worked on their home to a small party.
Bennie Carroll and his sister, Margie, who live in a residence on Thomas Boulevard that underwent extensive work these past couple of months were all smiles as they served cake to volunteers.
This project was one of many worked on by a Rebuilding Together team since their kickoff “Work Day” held in April.
The work carried out by hundreds of volunteers is made possible because of wonderful support from individuals and businesses, said Jerome Stephens Sr., president of the group.
Rebuilding Together has truly become a year-round program, now, with the number of applicants seeking help on the rise, he said.
Member Susan Nally said the group is always seeking ways to fund various projects for Rebuilding Together such as grants.
However, grant monies do not cover all those needs and donations and other support from people in the area certainly helps, she said.
The Carroll home is just one example of how volunteers take materials provided them from various places and give residents a better place to live.
This home has new siding, new windows, porches and a central heating and air conditioning unit.
Team Capain Tom Hovey spoke of the assistance given by the City of Warner Robins on this project.
Stephens said there are many people Rebuilding Together would like to thank.
That includes the following: City of Warner Robins, Sign Ventures, Story Surveying Co., Warner Robins Supply Co., Lowe’s, Home Depot, Holiday Inn, Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Pauline Boyette, Women Auxiliary Moose Club, West Plumbing Co., Marble Masters, Higgins Tree Service, Moore Construction Co., Boeing, Flint Energies Inc., Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Our Lady of the Skies, Robins AFB, St. Patrick Catholic Church, AFRC Spouses Club, Robins Federal Credit Union, Houston Home Journal, Macon Telegraph and News, His Voice News, WNNG Radio Station 1350, Anchor Glass, Homer Childs, O’Neal, Long and Hall, Wal Mart, Mike Williams and Image Wear, James Dodson and the Warner Robins Recreation Department, the many organizations from Robins Air Force Base, the 2004 House Captains and Assistant House Captains, Publix, Homeowners Association, Moose Lodge Women and the 700 volunteers.
Meanwhile, people like Bennie Carroll and his sister are just happy to be able to stay cool this hot summer thanks to everyone involved with Rebuilding Together.
