Paris Mallin, of Fulton, was charged with Abandonment of Minor, following an incident which took place Dec. 4.
Fulton Police officers were dispatched to 407 North College St., upon request for assistance from a social service worker Dec. 4, at approximately 3:36 p.m.
Telecommunicator Robert Griggs was informed by the worker, who was outside of the residence, of a small infant crying at the window. She further stated that she could not make contact with anyone at the residence.
Officers arrived on the scene and assisted the worker in attempting to make contact with someone at the residence.
Officers utilized force to gain entry into the residence, as a result of the continual visual stress of the infant.
Upon entering the residence, officers were unable to locate anyone inside, other than the 20-month-old male infant.
Two exposed heaters functioning, as well as several sharp objects within reach of the infant, were observed by officers.
The infant was placed into the care of the social worker.
Upon exiting the residence, the caretaker, the infants aunt, stated she had just left the residence to walk around the corner for a minute.
The time from the initial call of assistance, until the caretakers arrival was approximately 45 minutes.
The caretaker was taken to the police department where she submitted her statement of events.
Responding officers included Chief Terry Powell, Sgt. Justin Purcell, and Pfc. Dennis McDaniel.
