Roy Hubert Mires, a resident of Martin, Tenn., died Nov. 18, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah. He was 80.
Services were Nov. 21, at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin, Tenn., with the Revs. Eddie Mallonee and Kenneth Springer officiating, with burial in East Side Cemetery in Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Lassiter) Mires; two sons, Dennis Mires of Union City, Tenn. and Daniel Mires of South Fulton; one daughter, Diane Copeland of Union City; three stepsons, Mark Lassiter of Dresden, Tenn., Steve Lassiter of Palmersville, Tenn. and Barry Lassiter of Gleason, Tenn.; one sister, Lucille Garner of Martin; two brothers, Leon Mires of Martin and Paul Mires of Meridian, Miss.; two grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Rufus Mires Jr.; and his first wife, Martha (Shelby) Mires.
The family requests that memorials be made to Union City Second Baptist Church building fund or the church bus fund.
Born July 23, 1929, in Weakley County, son of the late Pauline (Barnes) and Rufus Mires Sr. A retired employee of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Union City, he was a member of Broadway Baptist Church in Martin and was a veteran of the Korean War.
