South Fulton City Manager Jeff Vowell and Mayor David Crocker planned to be in Nashville, Tenn., Nov. 19, to accept the $500,000 Community Development Blocking Grant (CDBG) recently awarded to the city. The announcement was made during the South Fulton commission meeting Nov. 17.
The grant money is expected to be used for repairs on the sewer system, according to Vowell. The city will be responsible for matching approximately $109,000 of the grant.
During the report from the city manager, Vowell said he plans to meet with Atmos Energy to discuss gas meter discrepancies.
Last month, Vowell said there were discrepancies between the city meter, and the gas station meter. The gas is transported by Texas Gas Company. In other business discussed:
According to Vowell, the aerator project has been completed, installed, and is working correctly.
Mayor Crocker proclaimed November as National American Indian Heritage Month in the City of South Fulton.
The Commission approved resolution 2009-09, supporting Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. As part of the resolution, all governmental agencies, businesses and residents of South Fulton are encouraged to purchase Goodyear tires made in Union City, Tenn. if and whenever possible.
Vowell said revenue is coming in from the delinquent tax letters recently sent out.
Cap. David Lamb, South Fulton Police Department, thanked the community and city employees for support during his time of illness.
