Last Wednesday, Nov. 4, marked the beginning of the 2010 election season with candidates filing for either the primary on May 18, 2010 or the Nov. 2, 2010 general election. As of Nov. 5, 10 Fulton County residents with political aspirations filed papers in County Clerk Betty Abernathys office in Hickman.
Before the official first day of filing for the upcoming elections, State Trey Grayson predicted a high turnout. Graysons office stated they had received hundreds of calls concerning the elections in 2010.
This number outpaced our call volume in 2006 when we had a record number of races on the ballot, he remarked last week.
He further stated that if this kind of interest continues it is possible that we may see a record number of candidates on the primary ballot in 2010.
