Although reported to be near completion, an extension has been requested for Jamieson Distillery, located in Fulton County, according to the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA), which met Oct. 29.
A nine-month extension has been requested for the four year work-in- progress bourbon distillery, as a result of a delay with the boiler permit, according to KEDFA.
Owner, Ray Jamieson, was pre-qualified for $770,000 in Kentucky corporate tax credits for up to 15 years through the Kentucky Rural Economic Development Act in 2007.
However, securing required permits and satisfying the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules were among factors that slowed down the process. A nine-month extension was also requested in February.
With plans to produce 5,000 barrels of bourbon annually after the second year, Jamieson Distillery is expected to bring 28 new jobs to the area.
The new business is also expected to be a tourist site, capitalizing on featuring the first new still built in Kentucky in more than 30 years, blended with the history of being next to a rivertown.
The distillery is located not far from Hickman city limits, on Highway 125.
