South Fulton man faces burglary, theft charges

Joshua Hooper, 28, of South Fulton was arrested July 28 in Martin, Tenn. for possession of stolen items.

In the early morning hours of July 28, Martin Police officers received reports of three separate car burglaries and a theft of items from a garage at locations on Ellis Street, Fonville Street, and North College Street in Martin.

The same day, investigators were notified by one of the victims that a credit card stolen from her car had been used at two businesses in Martin.

Utilizing video footage from the businesses Officers were able to identify two suspects and located them a short time later at 127 E. Heights Drive in Martin.

Twenty-three year-old Billy McDaniel of Sharon, Tenn. was also arrested. Hooper and McDaniel were both charged with Burglary, Theft of Property, Identity Theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Credited for quick work in the case were the victim’s timely reporting of the fraudulent card activity, Lt. Jason Arant’s patrol shift, Capt. Randal Walker and Investigator Robby Hatler of the Martin Police Department.
