The following story was published in the March 25, 1959 issue of the Fulton Daily Leader, being printed in observance of the city of Fulton’s 150th birthday:

CALLING ALL LADIES – by public demand, we are in it, Ladies – the KEN- TENN-O-RAMA, that is!

The men are growing glorious facial adornment, and the women are complaining. Oh, the women are not complaining about the beards! We like ‘em! The women are complaining because they are missing all the fun, and they want to join in, too.

Tuesday night, March 24, we called together representatives from the women’s organizations in Fulton, South Fulton and the surrounding area. Mayor Nelson Tripp of the City of Fulton was present to welcome the ladies and sign the Proclamation, so Ladies, we are now a part of the KEN-TENN- O-RAMA.

Col. Charles Burrow, the biggest brush in the Centennial celebration, was also present to express his pleasure that the ladies are organizing.

The following committee chairwomen were introduced: Centennial Belles, Mrs. Morgan Omar; Bonneta and Dresses, Mrs. Clyde Fields; Style Show, Mrs. Gene Williamson; Promenade and Caravan, Mrs. Fred Homra; Kangaroo Kourt, Mrs. Bobby Scates. Roll was called, and we were delighted that thirty-two clubs were represented.

A clever style show was presented with Mrs. Hendon Wright as commentator. The models, wearing costumes of olden days originals and replicas, were: Mrs. Joe Reed, Mrs. Joe Johnson, Mrs. Robert Batts, Mrs. Fred Homra, Mrs. Bobby Scates, Mrs. Morgan Omar, Mrs. Clyde Fields, Miss Margaret Omar, Miss Carol Luther, and Miss Sandra Cash.

Here’s your chance! Get your bonnet and old-fashioned dress. Join a CENTENNIAL BELLES chapter, buy your button, and, let’s have fun, fun, fun! If your club were not represented, it is not too late to get “in the swing.” Contact Mrs. Morgan Omar, Fulton, Kentucky, and she will give you all necessary information.

Be a CENTENNIAL BELLE and join in the fun!
