A Union City, Tenn. man, formerly of Hickman, who was involved in a shooting in Union City in May, was killed in a car accident June 27 in Fulton County.
Willie Hagler, 28, was traveling southbound on KY 125 when he crossed into the northbound lane, striking a sign post. He then crossed back over into the southbound lane, where he ran off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle overturned onto its side and struck a tree. Also killed in the accident was Haglers passenger, Jalissa N. Kinney, 17, of Hickman. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by Fulton County Coroner Matt Moss.
In late May, Hagler was driving a car in Union City, when the vehicle he was driving was shot at by a juvenile. Shots from the alleged shooter broke the back passenger window out of the car and shattered the back window of the vehicle.
Chris Cummings, a Union City Police Department Investigator, said the incident began as a water balloon fight, which escalated into a fist fight, leading to the shooting into the car. The juvenile was charged with attempted first degree murder.
