Citizen of Year nominations needed
Nominations are now being sought for the Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce
Citizen of the Year award, according to Thea Vowell, Chamber Executive
Director.
The winner will be announced at the Chambers annual banquet April 24 at the
Pontotoc Building, downtown Fulton.

Spring Means Green
Spring officially begins March 20, and is well-anticipated by many. For
gardeners, the season means time to ready the soil for plants such as those just

Making up snow days was the major topic of discussion at the Fulton
Independent Board of Education meeting, March 9.

Tractor Trailer Accident
The Fulton and South Fulton Fire Departments and the Twin City Ambulance
Service responded to a one-vehicle automobile accident March 11, at 2:33 p.m.,
on the southbound on-ramp of the John C. Jones Parkway. A flat bed tractor
trailer rig from West Virginia loaded with rolls of wire fencing rolled over on the
ramp. The truck driver was extricated from the cab of the truck and transported
via Air Evac helicopter to Jackson, Tenn. The South Fulton Police Department
investigated the accident and was assisted by the Obion County Sheriffs

Cumberland Aires’ final concert marks 21 years of harmony

After 21 years of singing southern gospel music, the Cumberland Aires will
bid farewell with a final performance March 21 at Cumberland Presbyterian
Church in South Fulton.
The group formed in 1988 in the Fulton Cumberland Presbyterian Church
with Leroy Sawyer, Charles Moose Ray, Brent Greer, Tom Couch, and Aleen
Pollard on the piano. Through the years, there were others who joined the
group and left, such as Jimmy Barber, Brent Tibbs and Gary Bradley.
Sawyer is the only original member left in the group, accompanied by lead
singer Robert Dilday, a 19-year
