The choirs of the world will meet up again this year for INTERKULTUR'S choral festivals and competitions. As host countries, China, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Austria and the USA will be welcoming choirs from the most diverse of nations all over the globe.

The highlight of the INTERKULTUR events will be the world's biggest choir competition, the 6th World Choir Games 2010, which runs from 15th to 26th July in the Chines city of Shaoxing. "As the world's biggest choir competition, the games aim at once to uplift people, help them discover the power of shared experience by singing together and inspire the personalities and communities of the singers", was the promise of INTERKULTUR President, Gunter Titsch, to the guests from around the globe.

The starting point for the INTERKULTUR events in 2010 is in Italy. From the 28th March to 1st April, the town of Riva del Garda on the shores of Lake Garda will provide the Mediterranean atmosphere for the international competition, "Concorso Corale Internazionale". This will be followed from 28th April to 2nd May by "Venzia in Musica" in the lagoon city o Venice. Then, from 31st May to 7th June 2010, it's off to Asia and the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, for the "Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod", INTERKULTUR'S international children's and youth choir festival.

Then it's on to the highlight of the international choral scene in 2010, the 6th World Choir Games in Shaoxing, China, where singers will engage in fair and peaceful competition for bronze, silver and gold medals. "Participation is the highest honour", said Titsch, as he described the inspriation, vision and goals of the World Choir Games, which are taking place this year not far from the EXPO City of Shanghai. Choirs and folk groups from all over the world are cordially invited to come.

2010 also marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Robert Schumann, and INTERKULTUR is inviting choirs to the city of Zwickau from 20th to 24th October for the "International Robert Schumann Competition". The, in November 2010, "INTERKULTUR goes USA", premiering in St. Louis, Missouri from 17th to 21st November with "The American International Choral Festival". The festival in the US will combine the best of American and international festival traditions. Tim Sharp of ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) is already inviting choris to his home country with the words "Welcome from all over the world to the US".

Vienna, city on the Danube and capital of Austria, will provide the backdrop for the final event in the INTERKULTUR calendar for 2010, the "International Franz Schubert Choir Competition".
