Kathy Small accepted the president's gavel and Matt Mahan and Gary Hanson came away with annual honors at the June 21 Installation of Officers and Awards Program of the Walla Walla Exchange Club, held at the Marcus Whitman Hotel. Small's slate of officers includes Mark Higgins, president-elect; Karen Adams, vice president; Ed George, secretary; Mike Dandrea, treasurer; and Sloan Kimball, past president. Her board includes Richard Pankl, American Citizenship Director; Janis Barton, Public and Member Relations Director; Sally Wagner, Community Activities/Fundraising Director; Ted Cohan, Youth Activities Director; Chaundra Dominquez, Child Abuse Prevention Director; and Susan Anfinson, Club Activities Director. Former president Linda Emmerson presented this year's Exchangite of the Year Award to Matt Mahan, "Mr. Ducky Derby." Matt has sold more and more ducks each year for the Derby, and, in fact, has been relegated to being his own team as well as his only team member for the last several years. He has continually risen to the occasion and this year sold more than $10,000 worth of ducks, then donned waders on race day to retrieve the winners on a wet and rainy day in May. Congratulations, Matt, and thanks for yet another great year! Past president Lyle Hansen presented this year's Rookie of the Year Award to Gary Hanson. As a rookie, Gary took on the job of co-chair of this year's Ducky Derby, which was very successful and, in fact, left no duck behind! Congratulations Gary!
