Exchange Club of Walla Walla Gives $10,000
to Local Organizations that Benefit Children
WALLA WALLA, Wash.—The Exchange Club of Walla Walla recently awarded $10,000 in grants to three local organizations that serve the needs of children in the Walla Walla Valley.
The Exchange Club awarded $5,000 to help fund the Center for Youth, $3,500 for Campfire USA’s after school and summer camp programming, and $1,500 to Friends to help fund its mentoring activities with area youth. These grants are the final half of the club’s 2003-2004 major fund allocation, bringing the total to $20,000 this year. Other smaller club allocations annually sponsor area groups, including Little League and Softball teams, and scholarships, to local high school students.
This $20,000 is in addition to the club’s funding of its Parent Aid Program. The Walla Walla Exchange Club recently joined forces with the Children’s Home Society of Washington to create the Parent Aid Program that recruits and trains volunteers from the community to work with local families who need a friend, mentor or role model to help them through stressful times. The Exchange Club provides funding and the staff members in the Walla Walla office of Children’s Home Society provide their expertise. Volunteers come from the Walla Walla community. Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to contact Children’s Home Society at 529-2130.
Exchange Club of Walla Walla is a service organization made up of men and women working together to make the Walla Walla community a better place to live through programs of service in Americanism, community service, youth activities, and the prevention of child abuse.
