Program Overview Get Wet Walla Walla - Ed Kertis, Jr. and Tom Sawatzki Community members Ed Kertis and Tom Sawatzki reported to club members information on Proposition 1 - Aquatics Center. On Tuesday, November 4, Walla Walla County residents will vote on this issue that affects families throughout southeastern Washington. According to Kertis, the proposed Regional Water Park in Walla Walla would provide wholesome activities for county residents and puts Walla Walla on the map as a regional destination. He said the current facility, Memorial Pool, is nearing the end of its operational usefulness, and if it closes, Walla Walla and surrounding communities would lose a summertime tradition and a positive, safe area for kids. Kertis said the Regional Water Park also allows taxpayers to benefit from a sales tax credit created to help fund Safeco Field in Seattle. This sales tax rebate pays for 25% of construction costs. For about $15 per year for property owners with a $100,000 home, Walla Walla county can have its own water park featuring a swimming pool, wave machine, water slides, Flow Rider, and adventure pool. Club members are encouraged to vote, Tuesday, Nov. 4. • Positive, safe area for community • Destination activity • Lifelong swimming skills for kids • Tax credit pays 25% of project• Memorial Pool not up to code For more information, visit: www.getwetwallawalla.com
