Program Review “Children’s Museum” - Sonja Groff & Lindell McWhorter

“Learning by doing” is the central theme behind plans to establish a Children’s Museum in Walla Walla according to a presentation from organizer Sonya Groff during Monday’s lunch meeting. Although still in the early stages of development, Groff said more than 60 community volunteers are working to create a dynamic learning environment for area children. She said the museum will feature hands on exhibits, activities, and art, and more. A building has yet to be secured, but the group prefers a centrally located site with at least 4,000 square feet.

Groff said the museum will open next year and as a non-profit organization and rely heavily on local fundraising efforts to operate. She said volunteers are sought for an array of committees which specialize in various organizational needs. Contributions are also being accepted.
