Program Review Parent Aide - Dale Elemenhurst “We’re taking a bid step forward,” former Club President Dale Elemenhurst said to members Monday as he described the Exchange Club’s new adult support program - Parent Aide. Elemenhurst and fellow member Jeffrey Townsend played key roles in gaining unanimous board support for this program. Exchange Club of Walla Walla joins a national Exchange Club trend of supporting local parent mentoring programs. Children’s Home Society will serve as the facilitator of this program designed to help struggling parents become better role models for their families. Parent Aide programs nationally provide social services support to approximately 140,000 children. Walla Walla’s program will start slowly by supporting approximately five to eight families per year. Most families will be court ordered into the program through Child Protective Services or Walla Walla County. Exchange Club members will serve on the advisory board and additional volunteers are needed. Exchange Club of Walla Walla will fund the program through its fund-raising efforts.

Fair Booth Survey Ed George asked club members to complete a survey regarding the Exchange Club’s fair booth. The club will participate again this year, but future fair participation will require favorable survey responses. Each year it gets more and more difficult to find volunteers wishing to help. This equates to longer shifts for club members who do participate. Please return surveys to Ed George.
