Program Review “WorkSource Walla Walla” Ross Hamann Ross Hamann, business liaison for WorkSource Walla Walla, provided club members with an overview of the free services available to local businesses and employers through WorkSource Walla Walla. Hamann said job listings and referrals continue to be the services in greatest demand. WorkSource Walla Walla also offers the following services: • labor market information • employee training/retraining • translations • Unemployment insurance access • employer assessment • business assistance • internet access • computers, printing, faxing services • interview space • downsizing strategies WorkSource Walla Walla’s resource center is located at Tietan and Stevens. Tell us something about yourself that nobody else would know: Our #1 ranked Kennewick Lions football team blew a 16 point lead in just over four minutes to the Blue Devils at Borleske Stadium. The loss gave the Blue Devils the 1982 Big Nine title. Ouch!!!

Club Announcements
National Convention • President Lyle Hansen discussed last week’s 84th Annual National Convention at the Minneapolis Hilton Hotel. More than 1,000 people attended the four-day event. Lyle, Kathy Small and Ed George attended a variety of educational seminars and listened to motivational speakers. American Entertainer Pat Boone was also in attendance. Lyle said they learned a lot and are even more committed to helping children.
City Golf Tournament • Volunteers and players are still needed for the annual City Golf Tournament, August 17 and 18. Sign up sheets were distributed for the various volunteer positions.
Exchange Family Picnic • Mark your calendars! The Exchange Club Family picnic is scheduled for Monday, August 26 at Fort Walla Walla. For more information contact Sheri Hodge.

August 12 - Meeting • Walla Walla Public Schools Superintendent Rich Carter will review the district’s annual report with club members. Carter will also answer questions regarding district operations.
