Message from the Kathy and the Duck Committee: Wow, what a success our duck race fundraiser was! Very soon we will know exactly how much money we raised to be distributed in the community, but I am confident it will be our greatest amount yet. I want to thank each and every member who contributed to the success of this event. It could not happen without the ticket sellers and race day helpers. Again, we thank you very very much.

New newsletter feature: YOU!
Mark Higgins, Exchange Club newsletter editor for the upcoming year, announced that a fun, new twist to the Exchange News newsletter known as the “Exchange Profile” is being added to the publication.
Higgins passed out Exchange Member Profile Information Sheets and asked that they be completed and returned to him as soon as possible. This new segment will give club members seldom-known insight on fellow club members, such as what are their favorite movies, where they grew up, what hobbies they have and so on.
He added that a different member will be featured as space permits throughout the year.

This nationwide seat belt enforcement push places special emphasis on protecting teens and young adults as new data show more than half of all teens who die in crashes are completely unrestrained. According to new data from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Fatal Analysis Reporting System, 4,216 teens, ages 16-19, died and thousands more were injured in traffic crashes in 2000. Fatality rates for teens are twice that of older drivers and the risk of crashes for teens is four times that of older drivers.
The Mobilizations taking place the last two weeks of May are sponsored by the Air Bag & Seat Belt Safety Campaign, the National Safety Council, NHTSA, the National Transportation Safety Board, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
The upcoming enforcement initiative takes place the week of Memorial Day, May 20-27, with many agencies extending their enforcement wave through June 2. We continue to do these waves because research shows that repeating waves of high-visibility enforcement saves lives.
