Program
"Way back when"
James Payne introduced the Living History Program and the Fort Walla Walla Museum. Every Sunday at 2 p.m. (and during June, July and August it’s also held on Saturdays at 2 p.m.) there are tours of the facility and actors telling stories of how life was in the Valley, even before Walla Walla was a town. Dick Phillips and Brian Servin came to Exchange and told stories ranging from the Indian War to a naval battle that took place on the Columbia, as well as some history of the gold rush and agricultural/economic growth over the years. James also announced a special open house at the Fort Walla Walla Museum this coming Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; admission is free!

Quote of the Week
“Try not to become a man of success; rather, try to become a man of value.”
—Albert Einstein

Another quote of the Week
“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson
