Chamber of Commerce outing
The annual Chamber of Commerce membership golf outing was held yesterday under bright, sunshiny skies. A little over 100 golfers participated in the tournament, geared more toward fun than golf. In fact, a rule established years ago assesses a two-stroke penalty against any team that takes the game too seriously for the event.

The winning team in the Championship Flight, with a 14-under par score of 58, consisted of Jerry Davis, Jim Calhoun, Bill Haecker and Mark Watson. The Almost Championship Flight was won by the team of Judi Wilson, Leigh Doss, Darrell Webb and Bud Hunt with a seven-under par score of 65.

The coveted Tail End Award, presented to the team that has the most fun on the course, went to the team of Raymond Gunter, Shawn Sando, Mike Jaggers and Steve Welker. That team received a trophy while the other teams were only presented with gift certificates in the pro shop.

A host of sponsors and chamber members combine to offer prizes to participants that ranged from a hole-in-one sponsored by Glen Sain to goodie-bag treats. The commemorative towel given out by the chamber to all golfers focused on the significance of the day, Sept. 11, and paid tribute to events of the date two years ago. In addition, a moment of silence was observed before the teams began play.
