Lena Stroud

Lena Mildred Baker Stroud, daughter of the late John Baker and Elizabeth Breedlove Baker, was born on April 1, 1919, at Jasper, Ark., and died in the Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus at Poplar Bluff on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at the age of 84. Mrs. Stroud was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Bloomfield. She worked in the housekeeping department at the Dexter Nursing Center and was a resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Edward Leslie Stroud on Dec. 14, 1941, at New Madrid. Mr. Stroud preceded her in death on July 22, 1989. Survivors include one son, Roger Stroud of Dexter; four daughters, Dorothy Sexton of Bloomfield, Debra Stroud, Pebel Frederick, and Candace Warren, all of Dexter; one sister, Eileen Shatswell of Kansas City; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Pat Dodson. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Hardin officiating. Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
