| | Calvin Stroup | | 09/02/03 Email this story to a friend Calvin Stroup, son of the late William A. Stroup and Cynthia Bell Daniels Stroup, was born near Puxico on March 16, 1925, and passed away at his home near Puxico, on Aug. 31., 2003, at the age of 78. Mr. Stroup had lived in the Kinder and Puxico areas all of his life. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle in Sturdivant. He was married to Rebecca Canoy on Oct. 6, 1944, in Parma. Surviving are his wife Rebecca Stroup of Puxico; three sons Bill Stroup of Dexter, Ray Stroup of Puxico, Lee Stroup of LaPlace, La.; two bothers, Bill and Eldon Stroup, both of Puxico; one sister, Pagie Thicke of Russiaville, Ind.; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends also survive. In addition, Mr. Stroup was preceded in death by one son. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept.. 2, from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico. Services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 1 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral chapel in Puxico with Rev. Dale Holman, of Arab, and Rev. Ray Placher, of Puxico, officiating. Interment will follow in the Fagan Cemetery near Puxico with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of all arrangements. | | |
