Lady ‘Cats stumble at Poplar Bluff

DATELINE - POPLAR BLUFF - Dexter High School’s Lady Bearcat tennis team dropped to 0-2 on the season with a 6-3 loss to the Poplar Bluff Lady Mules on the road Thursday. “It was another close match we lost,” Dexter coach Vicky Jarrell said. “We didn’t play bad, we just didn’t win. They (Poplar Bluff) have four seniors in the top four spots.” Dexter senior Megan Leist notched two of the three wins for the Lady Bearcats. ADVANCE - Advance High School’s much anticipated 2003 volleyball season opened with less excitement than fans of the Lady Hornets had hoped for. The gymnasium packed with volleyball fans eager for heated action, and the Lady Hornets did what they did to most teams last season - flexed their muscles and made short work of their opponents.
