The National Weather Service has now had time to sort things out since Monday's severe weather in the midlands. Officially the remnants of Hurricane Jeanne produced eight tornados in seven counties. There was one death and 17 injuries. The strongest tornado was in Fairfield County near Ridgeway where an elderly man was killed when his mobile home was destroyed. There were two tornados in Newberry County.
