| | Church Sues Town | | 09/28/04 Email this story to a friend The Christian Methodist Episcopal Church is suing the town of Atlantic Beach claiming its right to religious freedom is being violated because the town is refusing to give the church a permit to improve a rented building.
The church wants the town to pay $6 million in damages.
Town manager Carolyn Montgomery says the town cannot issue the permit because the church is violating a state law that governs how close churches can be to businesses that sell alcohol. | | |
