| | Ten Commandments Judge On Capitol Hill | | 09/14/04 Email this story to a friend Ousted Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore contends federal judges have overstepped their authority in religious expression cases. Moore is the judge who had his Ten Commmandments monument removed from a state building in Alabama. His bid to reverse such trends continues to lack traction on Capitol Hill, despite his personal pleas at congressional hearings.
Monday, Moore defended the Constitution Restoration Act before a House Judiciary Committee. Moore helped write the bill. But Congress is divided over the issue, and with no support from the White House, it's unclear how soon, if ever, lawmakers will act on Moore's plan. | | |
