Churches in Florida are reaching across the peninsula to help each other recover from hurricanes.

A church that was damaged by Hurricane Charley on Florida's west coast, is now preparing to help another church on Florida's east coast damaged by Hurricane Frances.

The pastor of The Church of Christ in Port Charlotte says they'll take food, water and ice to members of a Church of Christ in West Palm Beach because "They came and helped us."

The Rev. Rob Combs says his church has 600 boxes of food left over from relief that was sent after Hurricane Charley. His congregation will ship that to eastern Florida while returning generators that the West Palm Beach Church supplied when the power went out.

Some of the members of the Port Charlotte Church will stay this week in the area ravaged by Hurricane Frances, sharing what they've learned from coping with their own disaster.
