New data shows South Carolina students did slightly better than last year on the A.C.T. College Entrance Exam, but did not improve enough to meet the national average.

This year's average score was 19.3, up from 19.2. The national average was 20.9. The test is on a 36 point scale.

Students in the Pickens County School District, in the upstate, had the highest average score at 22.3, while students in Florence District 4 had the lowest at 15.
