The title alone might give you a hint that this is far from The King James Version. A new paraphrase of The New Testament is called "Good as New: A Radical Retelling of the Scriptures." Here's an example of exactly how radical it is:
Instead of the Holy Spirit descending on Jesus like a dove at his baptism, "Good as New" says: "A pigeon flew down and perched on him. Jesus took this as a sign that God's Spirit was with him. A voice from overhead was heard saying, 'That's my boy!"
The project, which is endorsed by the leader of The Church of England, Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, also alters Scripture to suit modern morality. Condemnations of homosexuality are deleted and the word "wife" is changed to "partner."
