Here's an opportunity for churches in Lexington County to help law enforcement take a bite out of crime. The Sheriff's Department is putting together what it calls the Church Coalition Crime Watch program. Four public meetings will be held in August for pastors to inform them on how their congregations can partner with law enforcement to deter criminals. Sheriff James Metts says the pastors will develop close working relationships with resident deputies and increase the number of citizens who report criminal activity. They'll also learn how to limit opportunities for criminals to commit crimes at their churches.
The meeting dates:
August 10, 7:00 p.m. Irmo Middle School on Wescott Road.
August 12, 7:00 p.m. Northside Middle School, 157 Cougar Drive, West Columbia
August 17, 7:00 p.m. White Knoll High School, Platt Springs Road, Lexington
August 24, 7:00 p.m. Gilbert High School
