| | Man Wanted In Midlands Captured In Florida | | 07/22/04 Email this story to a friend You can breathe a sigh of relief. The man we were all told to be on the lookout for was captured in Florida. Mikal Deen Mahdi of Virginia was arrested in Satellite Beach, Florida Wednesday night. He's wanted in the shooting death of Orangeburg Public Safety Officer Captain James Myers. Myers was found dead Sunday night on his farm in Calhoun County. Police say Mahdi was pulled over for a traffic violation in Florida, but was captured after he jumped from the stolen pickup he was driving and ran for it. Mahdi was the subject of a massive manhunt Wednesday near Chapin in Lexington County where there was an attempted carjacking. Police are still investigating that incident. | | |
