Search continues for missing man

CARUTHERSVILLE - The search continues for a missing Caruthersville man believed to have been swept away in flood waters.

The Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department reported today the search is continuing for John Owens, 38.

The search in the Mississippi River at Caruthersville began Monday, according to the Missouri Water Patrol. Officers began dragging operations and also used a side-scan sonar in an effort to locate the missing man.

Investigation leads to eight arrests

JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control conducted nine alcohol compliance check investigations in New Madrid and Pemiscot counties March 15.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of eight on the charge of sale of liquor to a minor. In addition the retail locations were cited for sale of liquor to a minor and will face possible fines and/or suspension of their liquor licenses.

Offenders are: Tina Andrews, 26, at Sikeston Southside and Bonnie Mills Taylor, 40, Wal-Mart Supercenter in Sikeston; Patricia J. Wilson, 30, Front Street Marketplace in Morehouse; Shirley Ann Nieves, 34, BJ’s Travel Center and Machel Sullivan, 24, Casey’s General Store in New Madrid; Shafi Iftikhar, 62, Gas and Goodies in Portageville; and Jennifer E. Pelts, 32, of Sam’s Package and Pamala Bollington, 37, of Casey’s General Store in Caruthersville.

One location did not sell to the undercover minor: Southside Package Liquor in Caruthersville.
