Mules defeat Sikeston golfers

SIKESTON — The Sikeston Bulldogs golf team teed off Tuesday afternoon against the Poplar Bluff Mules in their first dual meet of the season. In the end, the Mules defeated the Bulldogs 160 strokes to 183.

Leading the way for Sikeston was De Bizzell and Bill Green who each shot a 43. Dakota Trevino followed closely with a 45 while Mark Fraser finished with a 52. On Monday the Bulldogs finished fourth as a team with 346 total strokes in the Notre Dame Invitational.

Poplar Bluff finished first in the event with 338 strokes. Notre Dame received second with 340 while Jackson shot 343 respectively.

In the Invitational Bizzell and Green both shot an 89 while Trevino recorded an 87. Fraser led the Bulldogs, shooting a 81 and finishing fifth overall on the difficult Bent Creek course.

Sikeston will tee off again Thursday when they host the Kennett Indians.
