A Rome man remained in jail on multiple charges in connection with an apparent domestic dispute early Saturday, reports stated.
According to Rome police reports:
Kenneth Heron Slack, 48, of 101 Chambers St., faces multiple charges including aggravated assault and false imprisonment after it was reported he struck a victim and then kept two people inside of a house while holding a knife.
Police arrived at a Kingston Avenue house around 4 a.m., and after a brief standoff with police, Slack was taken into custody and transported to the Floyd County Jail.
Slack was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of a firearm or knife while trying to commit crimes, false imprisonment, obstruction of hindering law enforcement officers and simple battery. He remains in jail with no bail on a probation hold.
Woman jailed on drug charges
A Rome woman remains in jail on felony drug charges after she was found with alleged methamphetamines in her purse, reports stated.
According to reports from the Floyd County Jail:
Heather Leigh Ann Simonds, 28, of 253 Weathington Road, was arrested at her home Friday night after police reported methamphetamines were found in her purse.
She also allegedly attacked a male in the house in front of several children.
She remained in jail with no bail on charges of felony possession of methamphetamines, possession of drug related objects, misdemeanor battery and four counts of cruelty to children.
Electronics, jewelry taken in two burglaries
Rome police are investigating two separate burglaries Friday that saw more than $5,000 taken in electronics and jewelry, reports stated.
According to Rome police reports:
A home in the 1800 block of High Street had $3,220 in electronics taken, which was discovered after the landlord returned Friday afternoon after showing the house the day before. A 52-inch television, surround-sound system, DVD player, jewelry and a microwave were among some of the items missing.
A room at Shorter College was also broken into Friday evening between 7:30 p.m. and midnight, when one of the residents returned home to find $2,180 in items taken. Police reported some of the items taken included video games, a Playstation 3, an Xbox 360 and a laptop.
Police had no suspects at the time of the reports in both cases.
SUV stolen from driveway
Rome police are looking for an SUV that was discovered missing Friday from a driveway on Smith Street, reports stated.
According to Rome police reports:
The owner told police hed let his cousin borrow his blue 1998 Honda CRV worth $5,000 to drive to a friends house, and after the cousin went inside the house on Smith Street, he returned outside to find the SUV missing.
Police had no suspects at the time of the report.
