WARM SPRINGS TO GET FOUNTAIN IN MEMORY OF LATE PRESIDENT
WARM SPRINGS, Ga. (UPI) The water of Georgias famed Warm Springs will begin bubbling up at a new spot this summer. Water from the springs near the present polio treatment center will be piped into a fountain to be built in the heart of this city as a memorial to the late President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Groundbreaking ceremonies for the memorial will be held next Sunday on the anniversary of the Presidents death at the Little White House in 1945. The fountain is expected to be completed in June. The water piped from Warm Springs will flow continuously into the topmost of four pools, and spill from one pool to another. The fountain is the gift of Mr. and Mrs. L.W. (Chip) Roberts, who were longtime close personal friends and admirers of Roosevelt. Roberts is an Atlanta businessman and former Democratic Party treasurer.

FIVE GENERATION FAMILY FEATURES GRANDMOTHER, 34
It was no April Fool joke when Mrs. Harold B. (Pat) Gavin, who had just turned 34 years old, was informed at 7 a.m. April Fools Day, that she was a grandmother. Proud as punch Saturday over five-day-old Zena Lynn Maner, who weighed in at 6 pounds, 10 ounces, pretty Grandmother Gavin said, Im more excited over her than I was my own children. Zena Lynn rounds out five generations. Her mother, Mrs. Millard Maner, of 100 Couper St., the former Linda Lewis Grogan, will be 16 years old next month. She was married June 1 last year. Mrs. Maners mother, Mrs. Gavin, attended her 34th birthday party a week ago last Friday. A busy grandmother, she owns two beauty parlors. Mrs. Gavins mother is Mrs. J.K. Pyle, 54, who is employed with Celanese Corp. Mrs. Sam Jacks, 79, is Mrs. Pyles mother and the great-great-grandmother of Zena Lynn. Mrs. Gavin may not be the youngest grandmother on record in Rome, but she very likely is the youngest at the moment.

McGowan, was previously located on the Calhoun highway. Mr. McGowan, with 30 years in the drug business,, began in his home town of Cartersville, coming to Rome in 1926 as an employee of Hales Drug Store, later buying this business. He served five years in the Navy during World War II, returning to Shannon, where he has been located for the past nine years. He is married to the former Miss Grace Tyler, of Detroit. The drug store occupies 38 by 60 feet of the original 38 by 175 feet of the building, and has been completely remodeled and modernized. Mr. Sherman first became associated with the grocery business when the present building was being operated as the Brittain Bros. Store. He remained with the store for 11 years. He then worked for Burlington Mills, and was assistant personnel manager when he resigned to open his grocery business. Sherman said he will carry a complete stock of general merchandise, including do-it-yourself hardware, novelty items and fishing tackle. He will operate the superette, along with Mrs. Barbara Jean Floyd, cashier, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 7:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
