Local home sales increased in each month of the first quarter of 2009, according to Graham Dixon, president of the Greater Rome Board of Realtors.
March saw a 50 percent increase in sales over monthly totals for February and January.
In January, 34 single-family homes were sold. With fewer days, February still had a slight increase with 35 single-family homes sold.
In March, 52 single-family homes were sold.
We are optimistic that the number of homes sold per month will continue to increase in our market as more buyers take advantage of the $8,000 tax credit to (eligible) buyers and the incredibly low interest rates currently available, Dixon said. Now is truly time for smart buyers to take advantage of the market conditions and purchase a home.
