The Georgia State Patrol presented the Floyd County Police Department's bomb squad with seized funds after they confiscated a car in 2004 with a bomb inside.
The presentation was held this afternoon at the Georgia State Patrol Post on Martha Berry Highway.
On September 23, 2004, Georgia state troopers made a traffic stop, which eventually resulted in the recovery of a pipe bomb.
According to Floyd County Police Chief Bill Shiflett:
A suspect in the vehicle fled on foot when he was stopped. He was later identified as Victor Hugh Clark, 38, a Trion resident and after the vehicle was towed to a storage lot, a search was conducted. An ammo pouch, $1,200 in cash and a pipe bomb were found in the car.
Troopers requested help from the bomb unit to disarm the device. The money was awarded to Georgia State Patrol, and they in turn awarded it to the Floyd County Police Department.
Chattooga County deputies arrested Clark on September 28, 2004. He was charged with driving while a habitual violator, altering a license plate, failure to stop at a stop sign, an expired tag, fleeing or attempting to allude police officers and possession of a hoax device.
There was also documentation found in the vehicle in reference to Phosphorus, TNT and methamphetamines ingredients.
