CASSVILLE, GA-- Local Civil Air Patrol (CAP) member, Cadet Captain Christiana Loudermilk, daughter of State Rep. Barry Loudermilk, was recently asked to represent the Cadets of the Georgia Wing CAP at Congressional meetings in Washington D.C.

Georgia Wing Commander, Colonel Jay Hughes, requested Loudermilk to join him in meetings with members of the U.S. Senate and U.S. Congress during the annual CAP Winter Board meetings in the nation's capitol. Hughes selected Loudermilk because he felt her professionalism and individual accomplishments portray a positive example of the CAP cadet program.

Christiana Loudermilk joined the Rome Composite Squadron of the CAP in July of 2005, where she began basic leadership, aerospace, emergency services and physical training that is required of all CAP cadets. She quickly progressed in rank, and in August of 2007, as a Cadet 2nd Lieutenant, she became the Cadet Commander of the Rome Composite Squadron.

Loudermilk also completed training programs in search and rescue and became a qualified Ground Team Member. In April 2007, Loudermilk was on a ground search and rescue team that located a missing aircraft which had crashed in the North Georgia Mountains. She was subsequently awarded the CAP "Find" ribbon for her actions on that mission.

She has also participated in several national CAP activities including the prestigious Cadet Officer School, held at Maxwell Air Force Base, in Montgomery, Ala., the National Honor Guard Academy in Westminster, Md., and Air Force Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training Familiarization Course, at Columbus AFB, Miss.

On February 26, Loudermilk accompanied Col Hughes in meetings with Senators Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss; they also met with Congressmen Phil Gingrey, John Linder, John Lewis and Jack Kingston.

CAP National Vice Commander Brigadier General Reggie Chitwood and Southeast Region Commander Col. Jim Rushing also joined Hughes and Loudermilk in some of the meetings. Senator Chambliss invited them to attend a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on the War in Afghanistan, where Senator John McCain is the ranking member.

"It was a true honor to represent the almost 800 cadets in the State of Georgia at our Nation's Capitol". Said Loudermilk. "It was a tremendous opportunity to do something to help the Civil Air Patrol and my fellow CAP members, and I will never forget this experience."
