A Kingston man made an initial appearance on drug and weapons charges in U.S. District Court in Rome today.
Barry Edward Bagwell, 50, is accused of distributing and selling drugs and stolen firearms in the Floyd County area. According to court officials, undercover officers bought drugs and guns from Bagwell, including one that he called a good hit man gun.
When he found out that he was about to be arrested, Bagwell allegedly fled his Floyd County home to avoid arrest, hiding in various homes around Northwest Georgia for the next 90 days. He was arrested by Gordon County Sheriff, Bartow County Sheriff and ATF officials near Sonoraville on Feb. 9.
Agencies involved in the investigation include the ATF, Bartow County Sheriffs Department, Cartersville Police Department, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Floyd County Police Department, the Polk County Police Department, the Polk County Sheriffs Department, the Gordon County Sheriffs Department and the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force.
