Riders and bulls alike are preparing for the fourth annual Three Rivers Invitational Bull Riding event being held at the Forum in Rome starting Friday at 8 p.m., with the doors opening at 6 p.m. It's the same times for Saturday's action.
Charlie Lowery, the promoter for the Three Rivers Invitational, said today, The Forum is a good place for bull riding because theres not a bad seat in the house.
Tickets for the bull ride are $20 VIP seats, while general admission for adults is $18, with childrens tickets priced at $15. Discount tickets can be purchased this year at West Express on North Broad Street and at the Schroeders Deli location on Martha Berry Highway in Armuchee. United Community Bank in Summerville and Adairsville were added this year as vendors for discount tickets.
Its good family entertainment and people have come back to enjoy it again and again, Lowery said.
Thirty cowboys from around Rome and as far away as Oklahoma are signed up to participate in the bull ride this year, and Lowery said the first-place winner could win up to $3,000.
The draw for those who come out to watch the cowboys try to hold on for 8 seconds on bulls with names like Prime Action, Humpty Dumpty, High Fever and Bugaloo have a lot to do with the same reason why people watch NASCAR, according to Lowery.
Everyone wants to see a wreck, he said.
