A Rome woman was killed Friday night in Chattooga County in a head-on collision on Ga. 48 that left the driver of the other vehicle critically injured, the Georgia State Patrol reported.

According to GSP Communications Officer Joseph Swords:

Sue Ellenburg Hight, 62, of Saddle Trail in Rome, was killed in the wreck at 5:04 p.m. Friday while driving her 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe a mile outside of Summerville heading eastbound.

Penny Latrice Ammons was driving her 2000 Chevrolet Blazer heading west on Ga. 48 when she crossed the center line and struck Hight’s Tahoe head-on.

Ammons was transported by Life Force to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, where she was reported to be in critical condition Saturday.
