Ali Dianne Terrell has been named as one of five University of Georgia Food Animal Veterinary Incentive Program scholars. Five freshmen are selected each year to enter this four-year program, which is a joint effort of the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Terrell is a 2008 graduate of Darlington School and participated in four varsity sports including track, golf, soccer and softball. She attended the Governors Honors Program in the area of biology, served as a delegate to the Hugh OBrian Youth Leadership Seminar and was a member of the National Honor Society and Cum Laude Society. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Terrell of Cartersville.
The Food Animal Veterinary Medicine Program began at UGA in 2007 as an effort to establish more food animal veterinarians in the fields of animal care, research and academics.
After four years of successful undergraduate work including internships and required courses, the scholars will gain admittance into the College of Veterinary Medicine to earn their doctorate of veterinary medicine. Selection for this prestigious program is made by application, personal interviews, grades, extracurricular activities, commitment to the food animal industry, and personal and professional references.
Terrell is a freshman majoring in Animal Science at the University of Georgias College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Terrells interest in serving as a food animal veterinarian comes from her role as a veterinary assistant, where she assists with surgeries and animal vaccinations.
