FILE #111-2008Z. Request rezoning from H-TR High Density Traditional Residential to C-C Community Commercial for existing commercial use at 6 South Hanks Street.
FILE #112-2008Z. Request rezoning from M-R Multi-Family Residential to O-I Office Institutional to construct homeless services complex on property located at Crane Street, East 18th Street and East 19th Street.
Recognized Sonja Royster, a Coosa Water Reclamation Facility Operator, as recipient of Outstanding Georgia Citizen Award from the Georgia secretary of state.
Royster was nominated by her VFW Post Commander Nathaniel Ringer, who said she is a tireless worker on projects to benefit children and the community.
Approved participation in the Partners in Prosperity II initiative headed by the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce. The city will contribute $40,000 a year for five years, beginning in 2010.
The program funds the Chambers 20/20 plan aimed at marketing local workers and resources to new industry.
Bagby said the unique public/private partnership in economic development impresses many prospects.

Purchase of Three (3) Parcels on Etowah Terrace from the South Rome Redevelopment Corporation Using the $50,000 Signature Community Award
Sale of 5 parcels on South Broad (known as Gateway Park properties) to the South Rome Redevelopment Agency for $88,364.38
Transfer of City-Owned Parcels to SRRA that are Adjacent to Etowah Terrace for redevelopment
Community Development Director Ron Sitterding said the combined property transactions are helping the South Rome Redevelopment Corp. assemble a large tract in the Etowah Terrace neighborhood for redevelopment.
Assistant County Manager Sammy Rich said Rome and Floyd County will likely have to join with neighboring counties to apply for a share of federal Neighborhood Stabilization grant money.
The new program is aimed at helping communities deal with high rates of foreclosures that can lead to blight and increased crime.
Rich said there are not enough local foreclosures to meet the states minimum threshold for eligibility, so a partnership with neighboring counties through the Coosa Valley Regional Development Commission is expected to be arranged.

The board formally acknowledged it intends to complete several road projects funded through the 2006 SPLOST:
Improvements for the intersection of Tumer McCall Boulevard and North Fifth Avenue
and for the intersection of Shorter Avenue and Redmond Circle
and the construction of a secondary access road to the Rome High School and Middle School campus.
Bennett said a new state law requires the public statement before right-of-way acquisition can start.

Announcement: Solid Waste Commission to Meet Tuesday November 25 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sam King Room at City Hall
The proposed 2009 budgets were submitted for public review at City Hall, 601 Broad St. A public hearing is scheduled for Dec. 1 and the spending plans are expected to be adopted at the boards Dec. 15 meeting.
