A Floyd County teen was arrested this morning after a high-speed police chase that ended in a wreck with injuries, reports stated.
According to reports from the Floyd County Jail:
A 17-year-old driver and his passenger were treated at Floyd Medical Center this morning after the wreck on West Hermitage Road.
The teen driver reportedly attempted to elude Floyd County police at speeds of up to 110 mph. When the car came to the railroad tracks, it went airborne, traveling 120 feet and landing in the opposite lane of traffic where it slid into a ditch and flipped twice.
The driver and passenger were taken to Floyd Medical Center, where the passenger was treated and released.
The teen was treated and then taken to the Floyd County Jail where he remained in custody on felony charges of fleeing or attempting to elude police, possession of a firearm or knife while trying to commit crimes, and traffic violations of reckless conduct, reckess driving, speeding, and driving unlicensed.
Two Cedartown men in custody for drive by shooting
Two Cedartown men were taken into custody early Saturday and have warrants for their arrest in Rome after they were found to have committed a drive by shooting, reports stated.
According to Rome police reports:
Lejuan Detwain Walker, 27 and Marcus Ross, 21, both of Cedartown, remain in custody there this morning on charges related to a drive by shooting reported at 2:06 A.M. Saturday, when Rome police responded to the area of East 9th Street where four men stated that a late model Chevrolet Cavalier pulled up next to them and fired a shot, speeding off toward Maple Street.
After responding to the scene, Rome police contacted Cedartown about the car after witnesses told police that the car had Polk County tags.
Four men were pulled over in the car, and taken into custody by Cedartown police minutes later, and they were able to find a .45-caliber handgun in the car.
Ross, the driver, was taken into custody by Cedartown police and was charged with being party to an aggrevated assault. Walker was charged with aggrevated assault with a gun.
No one was injured in the incident in Rome, according to police reports.
Three officers injured in jail fight
Three officers were injured at the Floyd County Jail by two inmates Saturday evening in two separate incidents on the P Block at the jail, reports stated.
According to reports at the Floyd County Jail:
David Hughes of Clarkson, Ga., was in custody at the jail for escaping another institution when, according to the report, he became violent and attacked an officer injuring his hand, which he later had treated.
In another incident, Joseph Bridges of Lehight, Fla., attacked two more officers injuring one in the hand and another in the knee. Bridges was in custody for probation violation at the jail. The two officers were reported to have been treated for their injuries.
The two were charged with causing a riot in a penal institution, felony obstruction and misdemeanor battery on a police officer and remained in jail this morning with no bond.
